America’s Steep and Troubling Decline in Geographic Mobility

According to new Census data, only 9.8% of Americans moved in the year ending in March. This is the lowest rate since the government began tracking it in 1947 and the first time it’s fallen below 10%, thanks in part to an especially sharp decline in moving rates among Millennials.
