America’s Suicide Rate—Up One-Third Since 1999

U.S. suicide rates have risen 33% over the last twenty years and are now the highest they’ve been since the 1930s. The rise was seen among both genders as well as all racial and ethnic groups except Asians, with the sharpest absolute increases occurring among midlife whites.
