Cohabitation Takes Over Marriage as Most Common Relationship

The share of Americans ages 18 to 44 who have ever lived with an unmarried romantic partner (59%) now exceeds the share who have ever been married (50%). Adults under 30 are almost twice as likely to have cohabited as they are to have married, but the largest share (48%) have done neither.
