Roughly half (51%) of all college students believe that it is “acceptable” to shout down a “very controversial speaker” so that he or she cannot be heard. Furthermore, nearly half (44%) believe that hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment—a novel re-interpretation of the Constitution that is raising eyebrows even among left-wing faculty.
