Fertility Keeps Falling in England and Wales
According to the latest official figures, the fertility rate in England and Wales continued its long decline in 2019 and has now fallen to 1.65. At the same time, the age of first-time mothers continues to rise; the mean age of childbirth now stands at nearly 31.
