Last year, pregnant women averaged 5.2 fetal-ultrasound procedures per delivery—up 92% from 2004. While experts argue that only one or two scans are medically justified for low-risk pregnancies, today’s parents just can’t resist sharing pictures of their kids, even if they are still in the womb.
