In the decade leading up to 2017, global meat consumption rose an average of 1.9% per year. With the appetite for meat and dairy products remaining relatively unchanged in Western countries, the growth is being driven by new sources like China, India, and sub-Saharan Africa, where livestock populations are expected to soar.
