A new report suggests that the recent decline in U.S. fertility may be long term. The report’s authors pinpoint four structural fertility headwinds that will be tough to overcome: a falling birthrate among Hispanics; rising female educational attainment; a falling birthrate among the religiously unaffiliated; and a narrowing gender pay gap.
