Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has asked Japan’s government-funded universities to ditch their liberal arts programs in favor of scientific research and vocational education. Japan is joining the United States and other advanced economies that are facing a shortage of skilled workers and advocating a more practical, career-oriented education for Millennials.
