The percentage of workers waiting until after 62 years old to claim Social Security has risen dramatically in the last 9 years from 40.6% to 62.5%. While this does reflect the reality that people are retiring later, it could also show that many others simply want to wait to put in a claim until they’re 70 to make the most of their benefits.
