School Districts Abandon Punishments for “Conversations about Bad Behavior”

School districts across the country have been abandoning automatic suspensions, expulsions, and calls to the police in favor of one-on-one counseling and alternative forms of punishment. A trip to the principal’s office may soon look less like a punishment and more like a probing conversation about bad behavior.
