The Share of Two-Parent Households in which Both Parents Work has Risen Considerably Since 1970
The share of two-parent households in which both parents work full time now stands at 46%—up from 31% in 1970. Even though mothers are making gains in the workplace, their domestic duties haven’t decreased in kind: Many say that most of the everyday parenting responsibilities still fall to them.
