Shipments of “slate” tablets plummeted 21% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2015. Amid the tablet sector’s troubles, shipments of “detachables”—tablets with a keyboard attachment—actually doubled over the same period thanks to their ability to replicate the functionality of PCs.
