What’s Happening? Over the entire postwar era, the U.S. labor force participation rate of prime-age men has continued to fall. Since the late 1990s, the LFP of prime-age women has joined the downward trend—indicating that, while today’s economy may not yet be back to full employment, “full employment” is gradually falling over time.
